But let me give you the back story first.

Way back in February, I was asked to facilitate a custom nail art class for a super talented, high-performing, high-end salon in Colorado Springs.

I’d facilitated a CND Grand Master Program for this group of Nail Pros the year before & learned that while a fair few of them were exceptionally proficient in detail work & overall nail design–seriously, one girl even handpaints tennis shoes as a side gig!–there were some NPs who didn’t feel confident in nail art at all.

It was all because of the expectation that for it to be great, it had to be super detailed. #limitingbeliefs

Turns out this is so. Not. The truth!

Yes, some people have a natural gift with the brush stroke or the pencil stroke. Others have a natural proclivity for balance & flow.

And others (me included) have to be conscious of “designing” at all times. These elements get easier & feel more natural the more you practice. #inreallife

It’s like today’s lunch. What kind of sandwich you made yesterday doesn’t matter. You’re still going to eat again today, so you use the same sandwich-making skills you’ve used over & over. Sometimes, you do it with deliberate intent & thoughtful design. Other times it feels like just going through the motions.

What kind of sandwich you made yesterday doesn’t matter. (But it kind of does!) You’re still going to eat again today.

I have good news: in both of these scenarios, you can create wearable, sellable nail art that will thrill your clients, keep then rebooking for more nail art & ultimately raise your bottom line in a fun, challenging, artistic way.

Back to the story.

In each of Mega Talent Salon’s Master classes, there was a nail art contest. The popular vote determined the final prize giveaway. Consistently, hand painted designs won out. These designs were beautiful & perfectly executed right off the cuff. It made some Nail Pros feel like they weren’t good enough because they couldn’t do the same things. (Sound familiar?)

In their custom Core Nail Art Techniques class, however, every single design was multi-dimensional, experimental & far more diverse than darn near anything I’ve ever seen in my handful+ of years facilitating. The particpants’ confidence & excitement was infectious, to boot. It was a great thing to see & experience. Check it out:
